Wolfsburg have made an offer worth around €150,000 for Benfica attacking midfielder Caroline Møller Hansen, according to journalist Ben Jacobs. Benfica reportedly have no desire to sell the 27-year-old, but the player is believed to be interested in joining the German club.
That disagreement places the transfer in an uncertain position. Wolfsburg have identified Møller Hansen as part of their midfield rebuild, while Benfica risk losing a regular starter only one year after signing her from Real Madrid.

Why Benfica Do Not Want to Sell
Caroline Møller Hansen joined Benfica from Real Madrid in the summer of 2025 and quickly became a regular starter. She made 17 appearances in the Campeonato Nacional last season, starting 15, and contributed four goals and four assists. She also started all four of her appearances in the Women’s Champions League.
Across all competitions, Møller Hansen played 1,472 minutes. Her eight direct league goal contributions demonstrate why Benfica consider her an important part of their midfield.
Selling her would remove a player who already understands the team and contributes at both domestic and European level. Benfica would then need to find a replacement shortly before the new season. Their reported position, however, is currently clear: they do not want her to leave.
Why Wolfsburg Have Made Their Move
Wolfsburg have lost several important players during the transfer summer and need reinforcements capable of contributing immediately.
Caroline Møller Hansen fits that requirement better than a younger developmental signing. She has recent Champions League experience, started regularly for Benfica and has already played for Real Madrid.
Her attacking output also addresses more than one requirement. She can score from midfield while creating opportunities for teammates, giving Wolfsburg another source of production behind their forwards.
The reported €150,000 offer shows that Wolfsburg’s interest has progressed beyond an initial enquiry. It remains unknown whether they will increase that amount if Benfica refuse.
The Player’s Position Could Change the Negotiation
Benfica can reject Wolfsburg’s offer, but Møller Hansen’s reported desire to move complicates the decision.
There has been no explanation for why she is keen on joining Wolfsburg. A move would return her to one of Europe’s major leagues and place her inside a squad being reshaped after a difficult transfer window, but those factors have not been confirmed as her motivation.
Møller Hansen also remains involved with Denmark. In her latest appearance, she came on in the 61st minute as Denmark defeated Sweden 2-1 in World Cup qualifying.
For now, the transfer remains unresolved. Wolfsburg have made their opening move, Benfica want to keep the player, and Møller Hansen’s preference may determine whether €150,000 begins the negotiation or ends it.
