Inter announced four deals in four hours, sending Naja Poje Mihelič, Martina Romanelli and Caroline Pleidrup to Napoli before allowing Giulia Trevisan to join Sassuolo permanently. The destinations are important, but the contract structures reveal more.
Poje Mihelič and Romanelli are both tied to Inter until 2029 before beginning season-long loans. Trevisan, meanwhile, has been allowed to leave for Sassuolo without a fee or buy-back clause despite previously being contracted until 2027.
This shows two prospects have been protected with long contracts, one senior defender has been given a season elsewhere and another has been released permanently.
Inter Sign a Prospect Before Sending Her Away
Poje Mihelič’s transfer is the most revealing of the four. Inter have recruited the 19-year-old from Sassuolo on a free transfer and immediately placed her with Napoli for an entire season. She made only three senior appearances last season in the Serie A, playing 102 minutes, so Inter are investing in potential that has barely been tested at first-team level.
Her contract until 2029 protects that long-term interest. The Napoli loan should provide opportunities to collect the evidence currently missing from her senior career.
Inter finished second in Serie A last season, while Napoli finished seventh. That difference helps explain the logic. Breaking into a team near the top of the table would be difficult for a midfielder with three senior appearances. Napoli may be able to offer a more accessible route, although Poje Mihelič will still need to earn her minutes.
