The highest level of club football is the women’s Champions League. Teams know their opponents are going to be better than anyone they ever faced. The Dutch club Ajax hit the jackpot regarding their group. They are assigned to the group with AS Roma, Bayern München and Paris Saint-Germain. Some of the toughest Women’s Football clubs in this time. Ajax managed to win from PSG and finish the match at Bayern with a 1-1 draw. An unbelievable achievement. Let’s look at the Review Bayern München v Ajax.

Review Bayern München v Ajax

As you can see in the image above, after three games Ajax only lost against AS Roma. Bayern was the opponent this week and they amazed us again by taking 1 point home. Let’s have a look at the review Bayern München v Ajax.

Bayern started strong

The German team pressed and attacked the Ajax goal right from the start. It took them only two minutes to score the opening goal via Lea Schüller. This shocked Ajax a bit but they stayed in the game and scored the equalizer before half time via Chasity Grant. Bayern gave away to much space and took their foot of the gas for too long.

The home team wasn’t able to get in the game like they did in the first minutes. Unnecessary fouls and loose passes gave Ajax the opportunity to hold on to the draw and even create some chances. For Bayern it was a match with a lot of bad memories. The ref also handled the game in the Women’s Euro Final in 2022. England won after the referee denied Germany a handball.

Ajax in the Women’s Champions League

The Dutch club previously played in the Women’s Champions League in the 2017/2018 and 2018/2019 season. Both years they ended up as the number one in their group, but their opponents were nothing like this season. Wexford, Linfield, Standard and SFK Riga were the clubs Ajax had to play.

The first season Ajax was knocked out of the Round of 32 by Brescia. The following season they came on step closer to a Women’s Champions League final, but the Frensch power Olympique Lyon beat them 0-13 in the round of 16.

This year we hope that Ajax can get one step further in the UWCL. But even if they manage to go through, they will have to play teams such as Chelsea, Paris or BK Häcken.
