Tōko Koga has signed a contract with Tottenham Hotspur until June 2029, joining from Dutch club Feyenoord. A promising centre-back, Koga began her career at the JFA Academy Fukushima.

She made the move to Feyenoord in January 2024, going on to make 35 appearances, score three goals, and help the team to a fifth-place finish in the Eredivisie.

On the international stage, Koga made her senior debut for Japan against the USWNT at the 2024 SheBelieves Cup. She was later called up for the Paris 2024 Olympics, where she started all four games. To date, she has earned 19 caps and scored three goals for the national team.

What Tōko Koga has to say

“I’m really happy to be here,” she told us. “The environment at Spurs is great and I’m amazed how big the facility is.

“As for the reason I decided to join the club, I had wanted to play in England for a long time. It’s a top-class league, and I believe I can grow a lot by competing at that level every week.

“Transferring to the Dutch league, it helped me to adjust to the environment in Europe and playing in a different environment from Japan helped me grow. I played with more physically capable players and that helped me to develop as a defender.”
