Manchester City have signed England goalkeeper Anna Moorhouse from Orlando Pride on a short-term loan through January 2027, subject to international clearance.
The 31-year-old joins the reigning Women’s Super League champions immediately before their 2026/27 campaign begins against Birmingham City on Sunday. She will wear the number 14 shirt.
City did not announce an exact end date, but Orlando confirmed that Moorhouse will remain in Manchester through January. No purchase option has been disclosed.

Moorhouse returns after record-breaking NWSL spell
Moorhouse returns to English club football six-and-a-half years after leaving West Ham United for Bordeaux. She moved from France to Orlando Pride in 2022 and established herself as one of the NWSL’s leading goalkeepers.
Her standout campaign came in 2024, when she set a new NWSL single-season record with 13 clean sheets. Orlando went on to win both the NWSL Shield and Championship, completing the first league double in the club’s history.
Moorhouse remained a regular for the Pride this year, starting 20 NWSL matches during the 2026 season. She made 58 saves and recorded six shutouts before completing her temporary move to City.
Orlando said the loan gives Moorhouse an opportunity to continue playing meaningful minutes at a high level while moving closer to her home and family in England.
“It’s a new challenge, and a different style of play,” Moorhouse said. “I’m happy to be here and to get started.” She added that the opportunity to join the English champions was one she had to accept.
England goalkeeper adds competition at City
Anna Moorhouse’s performances in the United States earned her a first senior England call-up in July 2024. She was subsequently included in Sarina Wiegman’s squad for Euro 2025, where the Lionesses retained their European title.
The goalkeeper made her senior international debut in England’s 8-0 victory over China at Wembley in November 2025. According to her official England profile, she has earned two caps and kept a clean sheet in both appearances.
Her arrival gives City an experienced option who is already match-fit after playing through the ongoing NWSL season. Director of women’s football Therese Sjögran highlighted Moorhouse’s consistency and character alongside her experience of winning trophies with Orlando and England.
“Anna is a goalkeeper with outstanding experience and a proven record of performing at the highest level,” Sjögran said.
The short duration of the agreement gives City additional depth for the opening months of a season in which they will defend their WSL title. The club have not indicated whether the move could continue beyond January.
A well-travelled route back to Manchester
Born in Oldham, Anna Moorhouse spent time in the Manchester United and Oldham Athletic youth systems before joining Everton in 2012.
Her senior career in England included spells with Durham, Doncaster Rovers Belles, Arsenal and West Ham. She later joined Bordeaux, where she played alongside current City striker Khadija Shaw, before moving to Orlando.
Moorhouse now returns to the north-west with experience in the WSL, Division 1 Féminine, the NWSL and international football. She could be available for City’s opening league fixture once international clearance has been received.
