Barcelona have signed American goalkeeper Tyler McCamey as a free agent from Dallas Trinity FC on a two-year contract until 2028. The 24-year-old will join a goalkeeping group containing Cata Coll and Gemma Font after making 16 appearances for Dallas last season.
McCamey arrives with a career unlike those of most Barcelona signings. She spent four years at Princeton University before moving between Gotham FC, Kansas City Current and Dallas during the early stages of her professional career.
Barcelona have now taken her from that developing American journey and placed her inside one of the most demanding goalkeeping groups in European football.

An Unconventional Route to Barcelona
McCamey was born in Atlanta and spent four years playing college football at Princeton. She entered the professional game with Gotham FC in 2025 before moving to Kansas City Current and then Dallas Trinity. Her 16 appearances for Dallas last season provided the most sustained senior experience mentioned in Barcelona’s announcement.
That journey has taken her through several teams in a short period. Barcelona now offer something different: a two-year contract and the opportunity to establish herself within one goalkeeping department.
Tyler McCamey does not arrive with a long record of appearances in Europe or several seasons as an undisputed starter. Her recruitment is based on what Barcelona’s football department believe she can add after the beginning of her career in the United States.
A Vacancy After Txell Font’s Departure
McCamey’s arrival follows the departure of Barcelona B goalkeeper Txell Font, whose contract expired on 30 June. Font had trained regularly with the senior team throughout last season and made her first-team debut in the final league match against Madrid CFF. Her exit removed one of the goalkeepers operating around the first-team environment.
Barcelona have responded by bringing in McCamey to work alongside Cata Coll and Gemma Font. The club have not described the American as a direct replacement for Txell Font or declared a hierarchy for the coming Liga F season. They have simply made clear that the goalkeeping area needed another addition.
That leaves McCamey’s position open to competition. She must first adapt to a new country and club before showing how much playing time she can earn.
Why the Two-Year Contract Matters
A contract until 2028 gives the goalkeeper two seasons in which to develop, compete and demonstrate that her experience can translate into Barcelona’s environment.
It is also a shorter commitment than the four-year contracts often given to young players expected to become long-term pillars of a squad. McCamey is 24 and already has professional experience, so the next two years should provide a clear indication of the level she can reach.
Her immediate task is not necessarily to arrive with a guaranteed place. It is to raise the standard of the group and create a convincing case for opportunities when they become available. For Barcelona, that competition is valuable only if all three goalkeepers have a realistic chance to contribute.
A Career Searching for Stability
Tyler McCamey’s early professional career has already included Gotham, Kansas City and Dallas. Barcelona will become her fourth professional environment since 2025. That variety may have exposed her to different teams and expectations, but the new contract also offers the chance to build continuity after several moves.
Her 16 Dallas appearances show that she has begun accumulating senior experience. What remains unclear is how quickly she can adapt that experience to Barcelona and establish a recognisable place within the squad.
The signing completes the immediate shape of the goalkeeping group. The coming season must now reveal whether McCamey has been recruited primarily to support it or whether she can challenge for something more substantial.
