Real Madrid have completed the signing of Germany international Elisa Senß from Eintracht Frankfurt, adding one of the Bundesliga’s most consistent midfielders to their squad ahead of the 2026-27 season.

The Spanish giants confirmed that Senß has signed a four-year contract until June 2030, becoming the latest addition to a Real Madrid side determined to strengthen its squad as it continues its pursuit of major domestic and European honours.

For the 28-year-old midfielder, the move marks the first transfer outside her native Germany and represents the biggest challenge of her career to date.

Real Madrid Add Proven Bundesliga Quality

Senß arrives in Madrid after building an impressive career in Germany, where she established herself as one of the country’s most reliable midfielders.

Her professional journey began at Meppen before she moved to SGS Essen in 2019. After three seasons there, she joined Bayer Leverkusen in 2022 and later signed for Eintracht Frankfurt in 2024, where her performances further elevated her reputation both domestically and internationally.

The midfielder leaves Frankfurt as one of the standout players in the Frauen-Bundesliga and arrives at Real Madrid with extensive experience at club and international level. Reports from Germany indicate she made more than 40 appearances for Frankfurt across all competitions during the 2025-26 campaign while contributing goals and assists from midfield.

Her arrival is another statement of intent from Real Madrid, who continue to invest in experienced players capable of helping the club close the gap on Europe’s elite.

Who Is Elisa Senß?

Born in Oldenburg, Germany, Senß has developed into one of the most respected midfielders in German women’s football.

Primarily operating as a central or defensive midfielder, she is known for her tactical intelligence, work rate and ability to control the tempo of matches. Rather than relying on flair or attacking numbers, Senß excels through her positioning, ball-winning ability and composure in possession.

Her consistent performances earned her a first senior Germany call-up in 2023, and she has since become an important member of the national team setup. Senß was part of the Germany squad that won the bronze medal at the Paris Olympic Games, one of the biggest achievements of her career so far.

At 28, she arrives in Madrid at the peak of her career, bringing both experience and leadership to a squad that continues to evolve.

What Elisa Senß Will Bring to Real Madrid

While many of Real Madrid’s recent signings have focused on attacking talent, Senß offers something equally important: balance.

The German international is a midfielder who thrives in the less glamorous aspects of the game. She breaks up opposition attacks, recovers possession and provides defensive protection for teammates further forward. Her calmness on the ball also helps teams maintain control in possession and progress play through midfield.

Those qualities could prove particularly valuable for a Real Madrid side competing on multiple fronts. In high-pressure matches, experienced midfielders capable of dictating rhythm and providing defensive stability are often just as important as goalscorers.

Senß also arrives with significant experience from the Frauen-Bundesliga and the international stage. Having already represented Germany at major tournaments, most recently the Women’s EURO 2025, and earned an Olympic bronze medal. She understands the demands of elite football and should be capable of making an immediate impact.

For Real Madrid, this signing is not only about strengthening the squad today but also about adding a proven winner with the mentality required to compete for trophies.

A New Challenge in Spain

After spending her entire professional career in Germany, Senß now embarks on an exciting new chapter in Spain.

The move offers the midfielder an opportunity to test herself in Liga F and the UEFA Women’s Champions League while helping Real Madrid continue their growth as one of Europe’s leading clubs.

Having proven herself at every stage of her career in Germany, Senß now has the chance to bring her experience, leadership and midfield quality to one of the biggest teams in world football. Real Madrid will hope she can become a key figure as they continue their push for silverware in the years ahead.
