Manchester United have submitted an offer to BK Häcken for 23-year-old left winger Monica Jusu Bah, according to The Athletic.

No agreement between the clubs has been reported, and neither United nor Häcken have announced a transfer. Jusu Bah remains contracted to the Swedish champions until December 2028 after signing a three-and-a-half-year extension in September 2025.

The reported offer targets a clear position in Eva Olid’s squad following the departures of Melvine Malard and Leah Galton.

United need another left-sided attacker

Malard scored six WSL goals last season, finishing level with Jess Park and Elisabeth Terland as Manchester United’s leading league scorer. She was also frequently used from the left, giving United a player who could carry the ball into central scoring positions. Galton provided another experienced option on that side before also leaving the club this summer.

United have additionally lost midfielder Lisa Naalsund, while Millie Turner, Gabby George and Hannah Blundell are among the defensive departures.

Their confirmed arrivals have so far included goalkeeper Janina Leitzig and defender Andrea Medina. Both address other areas of the squad but do not replace the attacking depth lost through Malard and Galton.

Monica Jusu Bah is therefore being targeted for a position in which United have reduced both their numbers and their recent goal production.

Jusu Bah’s Häcken record

Jusu Bah joined Häcken from Umeå in 2023 and has scored 25 goals in 95 appearances for the club. Her strongest Damallsvenskan season came during Häcken’s title-winning 2025 campaign. She recorded ten goals and three assists in 1,810 league minutes, contributing directly to 13 goals from the left wing.

That production represented approximately one goal involvement every 139 minutes. Her domestic numbers have been lower in 2026, with three goals and two assists across her opening 14 league appearances. She has nevertheless started all 14 matches, demonstrating her continued importance to Häcken.

Her recent European record adds further context. Jusu Bah played all eight matches in Häcken’s 2025/26 Women’s Europa Cup campaign and produced two goals and three assists. Across those eight European fixtures, she averaged a direct goal contribution every 137 minutes.

Experience without a WSL guarantee

Monica Jusu Bah is 23 but has already played almost 100 matches for Häcken. She has also competed in both the Women’s Champions League and Women’s Europa Cup. That gives United a target with more senior and European experience than a conventional development signing.

She also received her first senior opportunities with Sweden in 2026 and has earned two international caps. Swedish football has provided English clubs with several successful recruits, but the greater defensive intensity and reduced space in the WSL can affect attacking players during their first season.

Häcken hold a strong negotiating position

Monica Jusu Bah’s contract runs for more than two additional years, meaning Häcken are under no immediate pressure to sell. No proposed fee has been reported. Her importance to the team, recent contract extension and existing European experience give the Swedish club grounds to demand a significant offer.

The timing also matters. Häcken’s domestic season is in progress, while United are approaching the beginning of the 2026/27 WSL campaign. A late departure would leave the Swedish champions with limited time to replace a regular starter. An initial offer therefore does not necessarily mean an agreement is close.

The current status of the move

The report is more substantial than an expression of interest because it states that United have made an offer. However, the transfer remains incomplete until the clubs reach an agreement and Jusu Bah accepts personal terms.

If completed, the move would give Olid an established left winger with recent league-winning and European experience. It would also restore some of the wide attacking depth lost during United’s summer departures.

For now, the confirmed information is limited to United’s reported bid and Jusu Bah’s position under contract at Häcken.
