The 2026/27 WSL assist race

There is no outright leader after the opening two rounds, with 23 players registering one assist each.

Chelsea have made an especially broad contribution to the early standings. Sjoeke Nüsken, Keira Walsh, Lucy Bronze, Ellie Carpenter and Wieke Kaptein have all created a league goal.

Manchester City’s assists have similarly been distributed across the team. Lauren Hemp, Khadija Shaw, Kerstin Casparij and Beth Mead have each registered one, with Casparij already appearing among the leaders after finishing joint-top of the WSL assist rankings last season.

Tottenham Hotspur have three players on one assist through Julie Blakstad, Signe Gaupset and Matilda Vinberg, while Riko Ueki, Seraina Piubel and Saki Kumagai have all contributed one for West Ham United.

With the season still in its opening stages, the standings should begin to separate significantly over the coming weeks.

Who had the most WSL assists in 2025/26?

Lynn Wilms and Kerstin Casparij finished joint-top of the WSL assist standings in 2025/26 with seven assists each.

Wilms produced an impressive first WSL campaign with Aston Villa after joining from Wolfsburg in the summer of 2025. The Dutch defender finished the season with seven assists, putting her level with compatriot Casparij at the top of the league.

Casparij’s attacking contribution was an important part of Manchester City’s title-winning campaign. The right-back also scored three league goals, meaning she finished the season with 10 WSL goal contributions from defence

Lauren Hemp and Alessia Russo were immediately behind the two Dutch defenders in the statistics shown above, both finishing with six assists.

How are WSL assists recorded?

An assist is generally awarded to the player who makes the final pass or touch that directly creates a goal.

However, assist totals can differ slightly between statistical providers. Deflections, rebounds, own goals and touches from opposing defenders can affect whether an assist is awarded.

For that reason, the standings on this page use a consistent statistical source when tracking the 2026/27 season.

When are the WSL top assists updated?

The WSL top assists 2026/27 table will be updated regularly throughout the Women’s Super League season, normally following the completion of each matchweek.
