Shaw begins the new campaign as the defending Golden Boot winner after scoring 21 league goals for Manchester City in 2025/26. The Manchester City striker has now finished as the WSL’s leading scorer in each of the last three seasons, including sharing the award with Alessia Russo in 2024/25.

The 2026/27 WSL Golden Boot race
Three players emerged from the opening weekend with two goals. Khadija Shaw made an immediate start to her Golden Boot defence by scoring twice as defending champions Manchester City beat Birmingham City 3–1. Shaw finished last season with 21 goals and has started the new campaign at the front of the scoring race again.
Liverpool captain Grace Fisk is alongside her after an unusual goalscoring performance from centre-back. Fisk scored in each half as Liverpool opened their season with a 4–0 victory away to newly promoted Charlton Athletic.
Kirsty Hanson also scored twice on her Tottenham debut. The Scotland international joined Spurs after scoring 12 WSL goals for Aston Villa in 2025/26 and immediately continued that form with a brace in Tottenham’s 3–1 victory over West Ham United.
With only one matchweek completed, the Golden Boot standings remain tightly packed and will change quickly as the season develops.

Khadija Shaw won the 2025/26 Women’s Super League Golden Boot after scoring 21 goals in 22 league appearances for Manchester City.
Shaw secured the award with two goals against West Ham United on the final day of the season. It was her third WSL Golden Boot after previously finishing as the competition’s leading scorer in 2023/24 and sharing the award with Arsenal’s Alessia Russo in 2024/25.
Her 21-goal total in 2025/26 also matched the number she scored during her 2023/24 Golden Boot-winning campaign.
